Research

Consider a family in Florida in their hurricane-battered home receiving immediate support in the form of food and essential supplies. In Tanzania, a baby born with HIV receives life-saving treatment due to a process of rapid diagnosis. In Liberia, a father purchases amoxicillin for his sick child with complete confidence that the medicine he has bought is not falsified. In a Chicago suburb, parents who have been bringing their toddler with cerebral palsy to physiotherapy twice a week watch their daughter take her first steps.

My research in supply chain management for humanitarian and healthcare systems has helped support these very moments. In my work, I develop Operations Research (OR) methods for problems related to humanitarian supply chains and healthcare operations. My research focuses on network design decisions, scheduling, and inventory management decisions geared towards efficiency and equity. A common thread running throughout this work has been the consideration of human behavior and its effect on design decisions in different contexts.
